Today is my birthday, and I feel like I'm getting a do-over this year. I'm turning 46, but for most of the past year I thought I was 46 already. Don't ask me how it happened, because I don't know. (We've already established that I have a little problem with all things mathematical.) But it was a happy day a few weeks back, when Andy helped me realize I was wrong. So I was thinking about theme songs for my birthday. Cat Stevens has a good one that says, "Look at me, I am old but I'm happy." Happy that I'm not as old as I thought I was, for one thing.
But what really echoes in my head today is this wonderful song by blues greats Buddy Guy and BB King: Stay Around a Little Longer.

If I'm getting a do-over, this is the way I want to live it: so grateful to stay around a little longer, with the people I love, doing what I was made for, that the love and the doing and the gratitude flow out of me like music.
Lord knows I love the life I live.
